Can I notarize a typed "Living Will" or "Last Will and Testament" even if the forms were not written by an attorney?
A notary public can not determine the legality of a document. Many people choose to create legal documents without the assistance of an attorney. This may or may not have an impact on a documents effectiveness in a court of law, but it is not our duty to make that determination. A notary should proceed with the same amount of caution when executing their duties on any document, regardless of the document type or who created the document.
