Can a Notary notarize for family?
We have not been able to locate any ruling that a NJ Notary Public can not notarize for family. However, we stronly suggest that you not notarize for a family member. One of the key points to being a notary public in New Jersey is to remain an impartial witness. If you notarize for a family member, you are not being impartial. If a family member has asked you to notarize something for them, we suggest that you browse through our notary directory and locate a Notary Public in your area that can remain impartial and complete the notarization.
